Weight Control

What's your reason for wanting to control your weight?

If you want to lose weight for health reasons, it may be because your doctor has warned you of the dangers of being overweight or possibly you already have health problems, which are being aggravated by the extra weight you've been carrying

It could be you want to look better or fit into your favourite clothes once more. If so, you are probably not feeling too good about yourself at present either, as being unable to control your weight may have been affecting your confidence and self esteem. This in itself can lead to a person eating more if they are comfort eating, making this a familiar vicious circle.

What ever your reasons for wanting to lose weight, it's important to understand that it's probably not your fault as there can be a number of reasons for the problem.

If you've tried more diets than you care to mention and have still put back on the weight or are struggling to keep it off, there's a good chance that one or more of the following factors is involved:

1) The Dehydration Factor.

Very few people drink enough water these days. Those discouraging fluctuations in weight could simply be due to water retention. You see the problem is that when you don't drink enough your body holds on to the water in your body in order to dilute the toxins which build up in your system. When you drink plenty of water the toxins are regularly flushed from your system and hey presto, no water retention.

2) The Stress Factor.

This is a subject that could take up a whole website but stress often plays a HUGE role in weight problems. That's why I devote part of my sessions to showing you not only how stress affects the way you've been thinking about food but how to take control of those thoughts and the stress in your life

3) Psychological factors.

Whilst not every one has a problem in this category. The most common psychological issues that can lead to weight gain problems are, 'comfort' or 'reward' eating, inability to say 'no' (when offered food), and parental conditioning around food. If present and not dealt with, any one of these can sabotage your efforts to lose weight. That's why it's important to help you identify and address such issues or habits when present.

4) The Role of Blood sugar level This can be affected by numerous factors, not just by what you eat. At the beginning of your session I explain why this area is so important. If you want to stop feeling like you are uselessly fighting yourself when it comes to controlling your food intake, it is vital that you know this information.

My session addresses each of the above factors in weight gain and weight loss and allows you to feel good about losing weight.

Then losing weight and maintaining that weight loss doesn't feel like a constant battle with yourself and food.

I approached Phil Knox's clinic in February of this year after he had been recommended by a number of friends for a variety of addictions and eating disorders.

I had over the past five years developed a very unhealthy attitude towards food, yo-yo dieting at the best, and binge eating at the worst. Nothing was working for me and the weight was piling on, so when I called his Clinic it was a last resort for me. In hindsight, it should have been my first port of call, as he has been my lifesaver!

What Phil has taught me through Positive Health Hypnosis, has totally changed the way I think about food. He has put me back in control of what I eat and how much I eat, which I never thought was possible. Not only have I lost 2 stones, but I feel calmer and more in control in every other area of my life!

I had a recent blip when my brain forgot everything I had been taught and when I called Phil 2 weeks ago he actually hypnotised me on the phone, while I was sitting in a chair at home, by teaching me the empowering exercises he had taught me before, which I wasn't sure would work over the phone. How wrong I was! He has saved me once again and I am totally back in control of my eating. And my life!

I would strongly recommend Phil to anyone who is stuck in the misery of yo-yo dieting and binge eating, I only wish I had heard of him 5 years ago.

Evidence for Weight Loss With Hypnosis

Numerous clinical studies have proven that hypnosis is amazingly effective in helping people reduce or eliminate their weight issues.

The Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology stated: “…weight loss reported in the five studies indicates that hypnosis can more than double the effects” of traditional weight loss approaches.

The International Journal of Eating Disorders reported: “Hypnosis is effective even in small doses. After three months, test subjects who had used hypnosis techniques just once had lost nearly twice as much weight as a control group.”

Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, In a 9-week study of two weight management groups (one using hypnosis and one not using hypnosis), the hypnosis group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1995). In a study of 60 women separated into hypnosis versus non-hypnosis groups, the groups using hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds, while the non-hypnosis group lost an average of only .5 pounds.

Newsweek Magazine “Hypnosis can help. A growing body of research supports the ancient practice as an effective tool in the treatment if a variety of problems from anxiety, weight loss to chronic pain.”

Business Week “Hypnosis has gained credibility in the past five years because research using the latest brain imaging technology Studies show hypnosis can help to treat a multitude of disorders”.
